A/C SLATED FOR LYONS-DECATUR SCHOOL

by Pat Sharp

Lyons-Decatur Northeast Public School announces it will install air-conditioning in the Elementary buildings in the summer of 2012.  The School Board was thrilled to hear that the First National Bank-Northeast will donate 20 air-conditioning units to help with the project.  Lyons-Decatur Northeast Superintendent Fred Hansen stated, “Roy Miller, First National Bank-Northeast, and Farm and Home Agency, Inc. have been great community partners to help with projects to further the interests of the school district.  This nearly $20,000 donation is very much appreciated to provide a comfortable learning environment at our school.”

The City of Lyons will also help the project along when they install a new transformer to power up the electricity for the new project.  Superintendent Hansen said, “The communities of Lyons and Decatur are always there when we need something”.

The high school facility currently has air-conditioning.  This project will place air-conditioning in all of the classrooms that have an outside window.  These donated units also have the capacity to heat the classrooms and they operate at a very low noise level.  New electrical wiring and new breaker panels will complete the project funded by the Special Building Fund.

Superintendent Hansen states that the school district should no longer need to dismiss school early due to heat and humidity and the students and teachers will have a comfortable atmosphere in which to study and learn.  The school board, staff, and students of Lyons-Decatur Northeast appreciate all our community partners do for our school.
